Recently the US Government announced the Initiative 1206 to support the country that fight against terrorist. The US gov will help to develop the Malaysia Defence system by providing Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) for Maritime Patrol Aircraft. For the second phase (after August 2008) the aircraft will be equipped with satellite based datalink capability. The control centre will be built in Sabah together with ground radar transceiver. The control centre will be the hub for data transfer from the aircraft and ships.
